MVP friends,

Wow. After all we’ve been through together, the big day is finally almost here!

Join our Wednesday briefing to debrief the results – but for now, here are three reasons for clear-eyed hope as we go into Election Day:

1. We left it all on the field.

We donated. We organized. We volunteered. We donated again. (And again!) You + nearly 30k donors helped MVP move over $77 million political dollars in 2023-2024 to local voter organizations in every key state and race — groups that will be kicking ass, taking names, and building power for years to come, regardless of the results.

2. We’ll handle the election deniers.

Unless it’s a blowout, we know it could take days or longer to get the results. Hold steady. Remember: We expected this! Remind folks that it takes time for officials to count every vote, ensure accurate results, and make sure the will of the people prevails.

Our partners on the ground have a key role in defending the electoral process: helping voters fix ballot issues; shaping the media narrative; countering election denialism; taking part in litigation; and more. (Here’s our Election Protection plan.)

3. We’re in it for the long haul!

We gave it our all in this election, but it was never just about this election. We are part of a much bigger story. This is one moment on a long arc of progress. One step in a long march toward justice and freedom. The worst thing we could do is give up, get complacent, and retreat to not engaging.

If we win, we need year-round local organizing to push for progress like our future depends on it. If we lose, we need these same groups defending our democracy, protecting hard-won victories, and standing with our most at-risk communities.

Our vision for a Progressive Era is not conditional — even though this election will set the conditions for how and when we get there. Whatever happens, if we keep funding year-round local organizing, we will go farther, faster, toward the world we want to see.

OK- so what can you do right now?

  1. If you’re inspired by our local partners’ work on the ground, contribute here as a heartfelt thank-you — and to let them know we have their backs going into 2025.
  2. RSVP for our post-election briefing Wednesday (3pm ET // Noon PT) for analysis of the results, what we’re hearing on the ground, and where we go from here.
  3. Take 85 seconds to fill your cup + keep your eyes on the prize, watch and share this incredible video: “Keep Marching.” from our friends at Way to Rise.

“Keep Marching,” a special collaboration video by Joy To The Polls, Broadway Votes, and Way to Rise

Whatever happens tomorrow: Thank you for being in this work alongside us.

Let’s keep marching!

In solidarity,

Billy Wimsatt, MVP Executive Director
(On behalf of the MVP team)
