Plan to Flip the Senate

Goal: Flip the Senate in '26 and hold the majority in '28.

Why: Flipping the Senate would help us stop the MAGA agenda, block judicial (and possibly Supreme Court) appointments, and increase our odds of a Democratic trifecta in 2028.

How: To flip the Senate (currently a 53-47 GOP majority), MVP is investing in year-round organizing in 11 competitive Senate states, so we can defend 3 vulnerable Democratic seats and flip 4 GOP seats.

2026 Target States

To regain the Senate in 2026, we need to defend three vulnerable Democratic seats and flip four GOP seats: three toss-ups and one less favorable race.

  • Georgia: Defend Democratic incumbent Jon Ossoff
  • Michigan: Defend open seat, following Democratic retirement
  • New Hampshire: Defend open seat, following Democratic retirement
  • North Carolina: Flip open seat, following GOP retirement
  • Maine: Flip the GOP seat held by Susan Collins
  • Ohio: Flip the GOP seat held by Jon Husted

Next Tier

  • Alaska: Flip the GOP seat held by Dan Sullivan
  • Iowa: Flip open seat, following GOP retirement
  • Nebraska: Flip the GOP seat held by Pete Ricketts
  • Texas: Flip the GOP seat held by John Cornyn
  • Mississippi: Flip the GOP seat held by Cindy Hyde-Smith

State Plans

Here is a sampling of our state plans. More forthcoming.

North Carolina

In North Carolina, our partners are organizing to flip a U.S. Senate seat, defend a U.S. House seat, re-elect a Democratic state Supreme Court justice, and block a GOP supermajority in the state legislature.

Maine

In Maine, our partners are organizing to defeat one of the most stubbornly tough GOP Senate incumbents — and to protect the 2nd Congressional District, likely the most vulnerable Democratic House seat.

Support our work to flip the Senate — and to win power up and down the ballot.

PAC Donations

Movement Voter PAC

Movement Voter PAC is a federal political committee that primarily supports the political work of year-round organizing groups working to elect progressive candidates up and down the ballot.

PAC donations maximize impact on elections by giving voter organizing groups the most freedom to engage in partisan or political activity, such as endorsing candidates.

Donations must include full name, email, address, occupation, and employer. Donations are not tax-deductible nor anonymous, and will be reported to the FEC and state campaign regulators. FEC ID#: C00728360
