Without the right tech tools, we cannot reach the right voters. With the right tools, we can maximize turnout and build power that lasts.

To turn out the exact voters we need to win — and build bottom-up political power that grows each year — voter organizing groups need the ability to see who to contact, when to follow up, and where to allocate time and resources strategically. Tech tools power this work. That’s where MVP comes in.

Through our Capacity Building Program, MVP offers free and discounted access to a Tech Tool Stack designed to optimize person-to-person contact while saving precious time, money, and people power.

The MVP Tool Stack

Effective tech enables organizers to turn the resources they have into the power to win.

With the MVP Tool Stack, our grantee partners gain robust and secure data and tools to:

  • Target the right voters.
  • Help voters register by simplifying the process.
  • Educate and engage voters on the issues they care about.

  • Persuade new voters by deploying the right targeted messaging.

  • Reach voters efficiently and effectively by door, phone, and text.
  • Turn out the voters we need in the highest numbers possible.
  • Turn voters into supporters, volunteers, leaders, and organizers in it for the long haul.

Tools offered free of charge:

  • OpenField: An app to optimize contact relationship management (CRM) and canvassing.
  • Empower App: An all-in-one relational organizing platform for organizers and volunteers.
  • Periscope: A data analytics and visualization tool to inform voter contact strategy.

Tools offered at a discounted rate, often with gap grants:

  • Hubdialer: An automated dialing system that dramatically streamlines phone banking efforts.
  • Action Network & Action Builder: Email, petitions, event management, and other tools for organizing, mobilizing, and fundraising campaigns.

Tech Tool Help Desk

MVP also offers a Tech Tool Help Desk to provide our grantee partners with the training and support they need to maximize the use of these tools, particularly when tech vendors are difficult to reach or slow to respond.

Our in-house Capacity-Building Tech Strategist, Lenix Pecikonis, works directly with organizations to match membership lists to voter files, expand audiences, and engage in troubleshooting and strategic discussions that enhance voter outreach efforts for maximum impact.

The Movement Cooperative: Free Membership

In addition to the MVP Tool Stack, MVP grantee partners receive free membership in The Movement Cooperative (TMC), which is “working to build a world-class data & technology infrastructure that’s shared by key organizations within the progressive movement.”

Through TMC, our partners can access the voter file; data syncs; storage and backup; data research support and opportunities; dashboard building and software; access to training and community resources; and discounted pricing to additional tools and resources, including but not limited to:

  • DDX: A platform for high-quality voter contact data.
  • SmartVan: A mobile app that streamlines canvassing and data collection in the field.
  • TargetSmart: Data and analytics to optimize voter targeting and engagement.
  • BallotReady: A resource to help voters understand their ballot and cast informed votes.
  • Scale to Win: A text and dialer platform for cost-effective fundraising and voter outreach.
  • Catalist: A voter information and data analytics platform.
  • Plural: A legislative tracking and advocacy tool.
  • eQual: A platform for gathering signatures for ballot initiatives efficiently.
  • EveryAction: An all-in-one fundraising, advocacy, and organizing platform.
  • Daisychain: A tool for engaging supporters, organizing volunteers, and automating follow-up.
  • GetThru: An integrated app for peer-to-peer texting, automated dialing, and more.
  • Impactive: An all-in-one platform for texting, calling, and fundraising.
