The midterms are closer than you think. Here’s what you can do about it.

BY ANNIE LIPSITZ, MVP DONOR COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

The midterms are less than four months away, and early voting starts in September. MVP partners have the plans to win the House, Senate, and downballot, but they need our help to get there.

With less than four months until Election Day and early voting starting in September, it’s time to dig deep. MVP partners are going all out to win key U.S. Senate races, flip the U.S. House, and win critical downballot elections to stop Trump’s attacks and build a brighter, more just future.

They are not messing around. Our partners have been organizing all year, and they have the plans to win the midterms. But they need the funding to get there.

Below, check out a sampling of what our partners are up to over the next few months, and help us support them here.

AREA #1: Flip the U.S. Senate

North Carolina: Elect Roy Cooper by mobilizing working-class voters of all races.

With GOP Senator Thom Tillis’ retirement, North Carolina is one of the best chances to pick up a Democratic seat in the U.S. Senate by electing former Governor Roy Cooper. Cooper, who was twice elected to statewide office, is consistently polling ahead of his GOP opponent in a race Cook Political Report rates as “Lean Dem.”

MVP partners are rapidly scaling their work to engage working-class voters across the state, including Black, Latine, and Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) voters as well as rural voters of all races.

  • A. Philip Randolph Educational Fund is registering and mobilizing Black voters in eastern North Carolina and Raleigh. They operate through 24 chapters and have already hired almost 300 canvassers, with plans to hire 125 more if funding allows.
  • Siembra NC is leading engagement and mobilization of Latine voters, leveraging their strong presence in Latine communities in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area and Charlotte/Mecklenburg County. They will be holding a statewide asamblea (assembly) of their members in August with labor and community partners to kick off their get-out-the-vote work.
  • Carolina Federation’s chapter members engage and mobilize working-class voters of color. This year, they are strengthening chapters in Durham, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and New Hanover and establishing a new chapter in Charlotte. They also plan to knock 720,000 doors across the state, and, with increased investment, will expand that goal to 920,000.
  • Down Home NC is organizing rural, Democratic voters of all races to turn out for Roy Cooper with a specific focus on Cabarrus, Rowan, Ashe, and Franklin Counties.
  • NCAAT in Action (North Carolina Asian Americans Together in Action) is running a campus ambassador program and creator cohort to organize young voters online and on college campuses. Launched this summer, the cohort is piloting partnerships with local influencers to counter disinformation and amplify authentic narratives focused on winning the Senate race.

Georgia: Re-elect Jon Ossoff by building political power with the growing Latine and Asian American and Pacific Islander electorate.

To take back the Senate and boost momentum ahead of 2028, we must re-elect Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff this November. Ossoff is consistently polling ahead of the GOP challenger, Rep. Mike Collins, a Trump-endorsed MAGA Republican. But with Georgia’s perpetual battleground status, Ossoff’s re-election is not a sure bet, especially without sufficient investment.

MVP partners are leveraging Georgia’s changing demographics to engage and mobilize Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) and Latine voters in support of Ossoff.

MVP partner Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF) will engage Georgia’s rapidly growing AAPI population, including more than 368,000 eligible voters. AAPI voters turned out en masse in 2020 to help elect Ossoff to his first term, and AAAF will capitalize on the growth in the AAPI electorate over the past decade to mobilize this community again.

AAAF will execute a comprehensive, multilingual voter engagement program to mobilize AAPI voters across the state, with goals to knock more than 75,000 doors and make more than 100,000 calls. AAAF’s layered strategy will include a robust digital advertising program; multilingual advertising in Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Hindi; candidate and issue education campaigns; and outreach through trusted ethnic media to ensure voters have the information they need to cast their ballots in support of Ossoff.

Working alongside AAAF, MVP partner Mi Familia Vota will engage Georgia’s growing Latine community, which accounts for 12 percent of the state's population. 2020 exit polls show that 64 percent of Latine voters supported Ossoff, helping him win his first term. This year, Mi Familia Vota will turn those voters out again and persuade Latine voters who may have voted for Trump in 2024 to show up and help re-elect Ossoff. Through September, Mi Familia Vota will target persuadable undecided voters before pivoting to a campaign to turn out Latine voters with a vote choice index (VCI — the likelihood a voter would vote for a specific candidate) of above 70 for Ossoff.

Maine: Defeat Susan Collins by engaging white, working-class voters.

We need to mobilize every vote possible to defeat Susan Collins and flip this Maine U.S. Senate seat. Collins has held her Senate seat since 1997, but now, support is eroding as she faces a historically unfavorable political environment. With former Democratic nominee Graham Platner exiting the race, we may have an even better chance to galvanize the grassroots movement Platner built behind a candidate who can take on Collins and win.

In a state that is more than 90 percent white and the most rural in the U.S., one key to winning will be targeting and turning out white, rural voters. In addition to their voter engagement work in urban, suburban, and exurban areas, MVP partner Maine People’s Alliance (MPA) aims to mobilize 50,000 rural voters to turn out for the Democratic nominee in November. To achieve that, MPA’s team of rural organizing fellows is re-engaging canvass “hot contacts” — voters they have talked to in recent months — to deepen relationships, organize community meetings, and develop local leadership to build and scale sustained voter engagement and turnout programs.

MVP partner Food AND Medicine (FAM) will also mobilize white, working-class voters in eastern Maine by making the case that Susan Collins has contributed meaningfully to the region’s economic decline over the past 25 years. FAM will talk with voters about Collins’ support for Republican tax and regulatory policies that benefited large corporations and investors without adequately protecting manufacturing communities. Because of its long history of organizing in eastern Maine, FAM is a trusted messenger with voters in the area, especially those hurt by the negative impacts of Collins’ support for Republican economic policies. Throughout the fall, FAM will take this message to voters at the doors, on the phones, and through their personal networks to ensure that voters understand that Collins is responsible for massive job losses, especially from the local mill industry, and is not the benign moderate she claims to be.

MVP partners’ deep and sustained organizing with white, rural voters provides an opportunity to unite these voters around shared priorities like affordability, rather than dividing them over MAGA wedge issues like immigration and DEI.

AREA #2: Flip the U.S. House and Win Democratic State Trifectas

Pennsylvania: Flip PA-07, PA-08, and PA-10 and secure a state trifecta by mobilizing voters of color and white, working-class voters.

In Pennsylvania, we have an opportunity to flip a trio of competitive U.S. House seats, clearing our path to flip the chamber in November. In 2024, GOP incumbents in Pennsylvania’s 7th, 8th, and 10th Congressional Districts all won by less than 2 points. This year, they are facing off against formidable Democrats who, with support from MVP partners, could unseat them all.

These three congressional districts overlap with key state House and state Senate districts we need to defend or flip to secure a Democratic state trifecta. Our partners have ambitious, layered field goals that, if funded, could bring Democratic wins up and down the ballot.

  • PA-07 (overlapping state Senate Districts 14, 16, 24, and state House District 137): PA-07 has significant Latine, white, and working-class populations. MVP partners Make the Road Action Pennsylvania (MRA PA), Pennsylvania Working Families Party (PA WFP), and PA Stands Up are engaging these communities to turn out for Democrat Bob Brooks and defeat GOP incumbent Ryan Mackenzie in PA-07. Our partners will leverage their field programs and bases in PA-07 to also defend SD-14 and flip SD-16, SD-24, and HD-137.

MRA PA plans to knock 275,000 doors and make 100,000 calls to primarily overlooked Latine voters. PA WFP will knock 30,000 doors, and PA Stands Up will deploy its chapter members — Lancaster Stands Up and Lehigh Valley Stands Up — to mobilize white, working-class voters to win these races..
  • PA-08 (overlapping state Senate District 40 and state House Districts 118 and 121): PA-08 is 71 percent white with a poverty rate of almost 14 percent. To flip the district — and flip SD-40 and defend HD-118 and HD-121 — we must focus on winning white, working-class voters, many of whom we lost to Trump in 2024. MVP partner Action Together NEPA plans to knock 50,000 doors, targeting these voters to turn them out for U.S. House Democratic challenger Paige Cognetti, as well as downballot Democrats to help secure a Democratic trifecta.
  • PA-10 (overlapping state House District 88): PA-10 has a large Black population and growing Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) population. If fully funded, MVP partner One Pennsylvania (One PA) will establish a new chapter in Dauphin County, home to a significant Black population that essentially no other group has organized. One PA plans to knock 150,000 doors and make 2 million calls to turn out overlooked Black voters for Democrats Janelle Stelson in PA-10 and Sara Agerton in HD-88 to flip both districts.

Alongside One PA, MVP partner Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance (API PA) provides programming in 22 AAPI languages, with in-language voting information, and is a trusted resource for AAPI voters across the state, including in Dauphin County where they ran a robust field program in the primaries. API PA aims to knock 38,205 doors and make 500,000 phone calls, primarily to AAPI voters, to flip PA-10 and HD-88.

Nevada: Defend NV-03 and win a state trifecta by engaging Latine and Asian American and Pacific Islander voters.

To take back the House in November, we must defend vulnerable Democratic incumbents like Susie Lee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. Cook Political Report rates this race “Lean Dem,” and Trump won this multiracial district, which includes parts of southern Las Vegas, by just 1 point in 2024.

Nearly half the electorate identify as independents, giving Democrats and MVP partners an opening to leverage voter dissatisfaction to re-elect Lee and flip the governor’s seat to win a Democratic trifecta.

NV-03, specifically, is in Clark County — the state’s most populous county — where Latine and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) residents make up nearly 40 percent of the population. In 2024, 42 percent of Asian American voters in Nevada said they were not contacted by either major political party, making MVP partners’ efforts to engage and turn out these voters all the more powerful. MVP partners Make the Road Action Nevada (MRA NV) and One APIA Nevada have well-established organizing programs in NV-03 and other key areas. MRA NV engages Latine communities while One APIA Nevada engages AAPI communities, and both organizations employ culturally competent, in-language voter mobilization strategies across doors, phones, text, mail, and media.

Arizona: Flip AZ-01 and AZ-06 and secure a state trifecta by targeting voters in overlapping state legislative and congressional races.

To take back the U.S. House, we must flip Arizona’s 1st and 6th Congressional Districts. Additionally, winning a Democratic state trifecta by re-electing Governor Katie Hobbs and flipping the state House and state Senate will create a much-needed bulwark against Trump’s attacks.

Cook Political Report rates AZ-01 and AZ-06 as “toss-up” races where a few thousand votes could make the difference. AZ-06 is held by GOP incumbent Juan Ciscomani, who won by just 2.5 points in 2024. He will face Democratic challenger JoAnn Mendoza. In AZ-01, the GOP incumbent is not seeking reelection, providing a unique opportunity to flip the seat.

MVP partners are stretching dollars further by employing a “nested” field approach, targeting voters in flippable state legislative districts within AZ-01 and AZ-06, ensuring engagement and turnout among traditionally overlooked rural voters and voters of color who could decide these elections’ outcomes.

  • Rural Arizona Action (RAZA) is running a 300,000-door, integrated voter engagement campaign across eight rural Arizona counties. Rural voters, including young people, Native Americans, and other voters of color, are often not engaged by major parties and candidate campaigns, especially in AZ-01, which stretches far north and west of Phoenix, and AZ-06, which runs from Tucson to the state’s western and southern borders.
  • Our Voice, Our Vote (OVOV) and LUCHA (Living United for Change in Arizona) are also taking a “nested” approach to win legislative districts in AZ-01 and AZ-06. OVOV and LUCHA both work year-round across the state, with OVOV engaging primarily Black voters and LUCHA building power with Latine communities. Thanks to deep roots in their communities, their final field push — in which each organization plans to knock 750,000 doors statewide — will be much more effective than canvass operations that set up shop right before Election Day.

In the final months before Election Day, every door knocked as part of Arizona partners’ integrated, “nested” field campaign has triple the impact to advance Democratic victories in congressional, legislative, and statewide races. Leveraging this “nested” strategy will maximize the effectiveness of our dollars and our partners’ capacity to win these critical races.

Wisconsin: Flip WI-03 and secure a state trifecta by turning year-round organizing energy into electoral mobilization.

Earlier this year, MVP partners helped secure a major victory: expanding the Wisconsin Supreme Court liberal majority from 4-3 to 5-2, which will impact redistricting, election protection, and more. They have carried that momentum through their work this year, and are ramping up to flip Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District and secure a Democratic state trifecta in November.

In WI-03, GOP incumbent Derrick Van Orden won by just 2.7 points in 2024, and Cook Political Report rates this race a “toss-up.” Cook also rates the open governor’s race a “toss-up,” which Democrats must win, along with flipping the state Assembly and state Senate, to secure a Democratic trifecta in this key battleground state.

MVP’s Wisconsin partners have built strong bases of support through sustained community organizing and membership programs. This fall, they will leverage this organized people power to turn out voters for Democrats to flip WI-03, defend the governor’s seat, and flip the state legislature.

  • Throughout 2026, Citizen Action Wisconsin (CAW) has been organizing across the state around healthcare affordability and the BadgerCare Public Option, raising Wisconsin’s minimum wage, and capping utility rate hikes. They have held community events, run neighborhood canvasses, and made their policy agenda central in their member-led candidate endorsement process. From now until November, CAW will deploy its expanded membership base through its organizing cooperatives to mobilize voters in support of the Democratic candidates for governor, WI-03, and targeted state Assembly and state Senate seats.
  • Main Street Action organizes small business owners to fight for policies small businesses need and build political power with business owners as a counter to the influence of local, conservative chambers of commerce. In Wisconsin, Main Street Action is focused on winning WI-03, the governor’s race, and several state legislature seats through Main Street Majority — a small-business influencer network. Main Street Majority will deploy members of Main Street Action as trusted messengers, both online and in target communities, to mobilize voters in support of Democratic candidates across the state.
  • GROWW (GrassRoots Organizing Western Wisconsin) is a political home for organizers, activists, and voters in western Wisconsin. This fall, they will leverage their base to organize and mobilize voters in western Wisconsin to flip WI-03 and maximize Democratic turnout in western Wisconsin’s biggest urban centers, including Eau Claire and La Crosse — areas Kamala Harris won in 2024.

GROWW has also been doing deep organizing in rural areas of western Wisconsin, talking to voters about data centers, access to healthcare, and other key local issues, broadening their base through town halls, community events, and local campaigns. Now, GROWW is re-engaging and preparing these voters to turn out in November.
  • Hmong Organizing & Mobilizing for Empowerment (HOME) engages the more than 71,000 Hmong residents in Wisconsin to build political power. Based in La Crosse, HOME is turning their community organizing into electoral mobilization, talking with Hmong Americans in western and central Wisconsin about the power of the Hmong vote to flip WI-03. With statewide, congressional, and legislative elections won on extremely thin margins, HOME’s work turning out Hmong voters for Democratic candidates could make all the difference.

In addition to supporting our Wisconsin partners to mobilize their bases, MVP is helping them align their efforts, ensuring their strategies are complementary rather than duplicative, to maximize our ability to win in November.

AREA #3: Organize the Progressive Youth Vote

Multistate: Scale campus youth fellows program to win key Senate races.

The right is out-organizing us with young people. Through efforts like PragerU and Turning Point USA, they have built a conservative, youth machine that is constantly expanding. To counter this, we must organize progressive young people en masse to turn out in November and to sustain a movement well beyond the midterms.

MVP partner Sunrise Movement is leveraging the energy they have established with young people around climate change, and funneling it into electoral organizing on college campuses in key states. Through their campus fellows program, Sunrise Movement is on track to deploy 25 campus fellows — scaled to 60 fellows if funding allows — on major college campuses in states with must-win Senate races: Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Texas, and Maine.

Youth fellows will engage other young people through a mix of traditional voter outreach — voter registration, candidate persuasion, and turnout — and direct actions aimed at highlighting corruption and money in politics. Specifically, fellows will organize young people to “bird-dog” candidates — a tactic involving unrelentingly asking politicians about their policy stances and past positions and actions, while filming and publicizing their response (or lack thereof). This tactic has a proven record of tanking electoral opponents — and strengthening electoral allies.

Sunrise expects to get “commitment to vote” cards from roughly 2,000 students per campus, with organic media impressions from direct actions reaching up to 25 million views. These tactics are critical for mobilizing the progressive youth vote for Democrats this November, and also for creating a culture around voting and against Republican corruption for years to come.

Georgia: Organize young voters to turn out for Democrats at all levels.

MVP partner Georgia Youth Justice Coalition (GYJC) has one of the most robust organizing and field programs in the state and is one of the only organizations that builds power with and mobilizes specifically young Georgians across race, gender, and class.

GYJC has launched its 100 Days to Election Day Campaign, a final push to mobilize young people to the polls in support of Democratic candidates up and down the ballot. The campaign includes:

  • A statewide chapter-based phone bank competition to make 100,000 calls to young Georgia voters from August through Labor Day.
  • A first-ever Chapter Leaders Summit series to build the capacity of young leaders to organize their peers ahead of November and develop the next generation of electoral organizers in the Peach State.
  • An “Adopt a District” campaign to provide on-ramps for young people to join a team focused on winning one of the races that could decide control of the Georgia state House, which we are only 10 seats away from flipping.

By supporting this campaign, we can mobilize young people in Georgia to win key elections this year, while bolstering the political power of this critical partner and its members to fight for policy change in 2027 and help elect a Democratic president in 2028.

Nevada: Engage and turn out young voters through culturally relevant programs to counter Turning Point USA.

After Arizona, Nevada is ground zero for Turning Point USA (TPUSA) — the conservative, MAGA, youth-focused organization that opened new Las Vegas headquarters earlier this year. TPUSA has three college chapters and 27 high school clubs in Las Vegas and the surrounding areas alone. Building a progressive counterweight has never been more important in this battleground state.

MVP partner Battle Born Action is doing just that: building a movement of young Nevadans to help elect bold candidates and build the next generation of progressive leaders.

This fall, Battle Born Action is leveraging its college chapters and strong membership to engage young Nevada voters through culturally relevant (read: fun) events young people will actually want to participate in. Events and programs include “Paws and Polls” and “Puppies and Boba,” where young people can participate in events with their pets; “Jump into Civic Action,” hosted at a trampoline park; and pickleball events and block parties.

Then, alongside the main attraction, Battle Born Action provides voter education, candidate information, and opportunities to get more engaged. Ahead of the midterms, Battle Born Action will be talking to young people about the importance of re-electing Susie Lee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, flipping the governor’s seat, and electing two liberal justices to the state Supreme Court.
