4 things we’re funding in the first 100 days
Hey MVP friends –
I wanted to send you a brief update and offer some tangible hope on this day.
This era will come to an end, sooner or later. The era that follows is at least partially up to us to create. So right now, we have two equally important jobs: 1). Work our butts off to mitigate the harm of this chapter; 2). Strategically lay the groundwork for what comes next.
MVP has already made our first round of grants this year. We are providing support to our amazing local and national partners to do four big things over the next 100 days:
- Seed a new Battleground Alliance in 20+ competitive congressional races, to create an unprecedented effort to block bad bills and win back the House in 2026 — with year-round organizing, not ads that vanish after Election Day.
- Win the all-important Wisconsin State Supreme Court race – just 10 weeks away! – that will decide gerrymandering, abortion, and voting rights in the 2028 presidential election. (This obscure race matters for all of us!)
- Kickstart the next generation of winning innovations – from digital organizing to media and disinfo strategy to youth organizing – in all the critical 2026 and 2028 states and beyond. We have to do things differently! Early 2025 is our best chance to try new things so we don’t find ourselves in the same position 2 years and 4 years from now.
- Protect communities and turn the tide of public opinion, from supporting organizers and families on the front lines to public storytelling on how their terrible policies affect real people’s lives. (Here are just a few concrete examples).
We’ll be in touch in the next few weeks with more updates from partners and real-time stories from the front lines.
On this day, let us remember MLK and the millions of unsung organizers who through ingenuity, courage, and persistence, managed to defeat more powerful opponents – under seemingly impossible circumstances – throughout history.
May we walk in their footsteps.
