Flipping the Senate! Winning back the House! Winning state trifectas! Breaking GOP trifectas and supermajorities, winning state supreme courts, attorneys general, secretaries of state in 2028 battlegrounds, and other critical downballot races!
Friends … Wow.
These midterms have shaped up to be a thumping of historic proportions, and all of our investment in year-round organizing helped make it happen.
MVP partners were everywhere, and won BIG.
Results are still coming in, but as of this writing, MVP partners have helped secure 500+ wins in races we’re tracking across 38 states.
Read on for details — and check out the MVP Election Tracker to follow live results. We’ll keep updating this post regularly as we learn more.

Toplines: wins, waits, where we lost, and what’s next
MVP helped move $34M+ to 300+ groups in 38 target states in the 2025-2026 cycle, targeting 16 Senate races, 74 House races, and 700+ downballot races.
And to help make all this happen, MVP donors didn’t just donate — they hosted 247 house parties (that we know of!!) to invite their networks into the MVP community!
Here’s where things stand as of this writing.
U.S. Senate: Flipped to 54 seats and counting!!
→ See Senate overview
- Wins: MVP partners have helped win 11 competitive Senate races, including seven flips: North Carolina, Maine, and — can you believe it — Texas! Iowa! Ohio! Kansas! South Carolina!
- Waits: We are still waiting for results in Alaska and Mississippi (where Democrat Scott Colom leads by 43 votes with 96% counted!).
- Where we lost: We lost in Florida, Louisiana, and Nebraska — three states Trump won by 13 to 22 points in 2024 — but came within 3 points in Florida and 2 points in Louisiana! This bodes well for future cycles (if we keep up steady investment).
U.S. House: Dem majority by a lot!!
→ See House overview
- Wins: MVP targeted 74 competitive House races this year, and so far, Democrats have won 33 of them (including six by under 5 points!), flipping 21 seats to help Dems retake control of the U.S. House. With 68 races yet to be called, our House majority currently stands at 228-139.
- Waits: We are still waiting for races to be called in 37 target districts, including in competitive races like ME-02 and NC-13. We’ve already secured Democratic control of the House; now, it’s all about how big our majority will be.
- Where we lost: As of now, we lost four of our target races: GA-01, FL-16, TN-05, and NY-11.
Downballot: Wins, wins, and more wins!
→ See Downballot overview
- Wins: MVP partners have helped secure massive wins downballot, including five new AP-confirmed Democratic state trifectas (so far!) — that means unified Democratic governance in Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin! Our partners have helped flip five governorships, six legislative chambers, and at least 74 legislative seats. In North Carolina, early signs show that we’ve gone from a GOP near-legislative supermajority to a Democratic near-trifecta. Our state advisors and our grantee partners are literally crying happy tears right now!
Also in North Carolina, Anita Earls won reelection to the state Supreme Court, a key step toward unrigging North Carolina’s maps — which could singlehandedly help us keep the House in future cycles!
- Waits: We are still waiting on results in key downballot races, including races that could determine whether Democrats win state trifectas in Alaska and Arizona.
- Where we lost: Democrats came up short in governor’s races in Florida, New Hampshire, and Vermont, and of 620 target legislative races we’re tracking, so far the AP has called 103 losses (compared to 410 wins).
Ballot measures: You guessed it — more wins!
→ See Ballot measure overview
- Wins: As of now, we’ve won 11 target ballot measures! After a nearly two-year campaign, MVP partner Michiganders for Money Out of Politics won a ballot measure that will curb corporate spending in Michigan elections by a landslide — 81% of the vote so far!
In Virginia, partners helped win three ballot measures that enshrine reproductive freedom in the state constitution, guarantee marriage equality, and restore voting rights for people with felony convictions.
- Waits: We’re waiting on results for eight target ballot measures, including Colorado’s Amendment 87, which would replace the state’s flat income tax with a progressive tax that could raise revenue for public schools, early childhood programs, and more.
- Where we lost: We’ve lost nine target ballot measures, including a truly despicable anti-trans measure in Arizona and a measure to write an anti-DEI ban into the constitution in Wisconsin. What this means is that, even on a good election night, we have more work to do — this is why we need to invest in grassroots organizing year-round, on the ground.
What’s next?
In addition to waiting on results in the Alaska and Mississippi Senate races and dozens of House and state legislative races, we are also watching the situation in Alaska, where the DOJ is probing the U.S. Senate race. Our partners on the ground are sending regular updates to MVP staff, and we remain ready to provide guidance and strategic support as needed.

Key themes
With a Blue Wave this big, here are a few of the most important early themes emerging:
- Big wins in “red” states. MVP partners helped flip Senate seats in traditionally red states many thought wouldn’t even be in play, let alone winnable.
- Trump’s gerrymander scheme backfired. MVP partners have helped secure 33 House seats, including a slew of “dummymanders” — in other words, Trump and the GOP’s attempted mid-cycle redistricting powergrabs failed spectacularly.
- Bold, populist platforms reign. From Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan to Bob Brooks in PA-07, voters chose candidates whose bold policy platforms addressed the challenges of their everyday lives — lowering the cost of living, holding corporations accountable, making healthcare more affordable, and more.
- Kicking out GOP incumbents and beating MAGA. In Texas, not only did MVP partners help defeat MAGA-addicts Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton, they also helped secure wins in key House races, bringing Latine voters who swung for Trump in 2024 back to the Dems. In Maine, MVP partners also helped end Susan Collins’ nearly 30-year tenure.
- The South! Across the South we saw incredible victories. From South Carolina U.S. Senate, to winning every statewide office in Georgia and closing in on flipping the state House, to winning the dummymandered Florida U.S. House races, to coming within just 2 points in the Louisiana U.S. Senate race, the South has proven that it’s a force to reckoned with.
- Massive voter turnout. More than 124 million people cast ballots in the 2026 midterms, thanks to the incredible work of MVP partners across the country. That’s roughly 12 million more than in 2022, and the second-highest midterm turnout rate in more than a century.
While we wait on results from key races in states like California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Alaska, and Mississippi, read on to celebrate more of our wins and how MVP partners helped secure this anti-establishment, anti-Trump wave.
Full election results: What just happened?!
MVP is continuing to track all of our target races (and then some!). Here’s a state-by-state rundown of all the results we know so far.

Photo: Michigan Working Families Party canvassers knocking doors in Detroit, mobilizing voters for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.
Michigan: “Money out of politics” wins up and down the ballot!
From the U.S. Senate at the top of the ticket to a money-out-of-political ballot measure at the bottom, MVP partners helped secure a populist sweep in this critical presidential battleground state.
After a nearly two-year campaign, MVP partner Michiganders for Money Out of Politics (MMOP) won a ballot measure that restricts political contributions from regulated utilities and corporations. And they won big, securing 81% of the vote! (The only county that did not overwhelmingly support the ballot measure went for Trump by 43 points in 2024).
Through their citizen-led ballot initiative, MMOP collected more than 560,000 signatures, jumped through seemingly endless legal and legislative hoops, and mobilized hundreds of thousands of voters to pass the measure.
But wait, there’s more!
U.S. Senate: Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has won by 7 points as of now, helping defend Michigan’s open Senate seat. El-Sayed will be the first Muslim American member of the U.S. Senate, and prevailed against what can only be called Islamaphobic attacks from his GOP opponent, Mike Rogers. He ran on a pragmatic, populist agenda that clearly appealed to voters: Money out of politics. Money in your pockets. Medicare for all.
U.S. House: We are still waiting on results from three MI House races: MI-04, where Democrat Sean McCann is up by 2.1 points; MI-07, where organizer-turned-candidate Will Lawrence is leading by 3.2 points; and MI-10, where Democrat Christina Hines is up by 7 points.
Downballot: We won a Democratic state trifecta! Democrat Jocelyn Benson defended the governor’s seat, Democrats have control of the state Senate, with two races still not called, and we flipped the state House, winning 57 seats (56 needed for a majority) with 10 races still to be called.
Huge kudos goes to MVP’s Michigan partners, who went all in to win these key races, including: Asian American Voices Fund, MI Poder, Arab Americans for Progress, Bend the Arc Jewish Action, Distill Social, Clean Wave PAC, and Michigan Working Families Party.

Ohio: Organizers trump Trump, helping Sherrod Brown to victory + House races and bye bye, Ramaswamy!
Ohio results are in! Democrat Sherrod Brown just reclaimed his Senate seat, defeating GOP incumbent Jon Husted by nearly 5 points, a massive win that increases our chances of flipping the chamber.
We also won four House races — flipping OH-07 and OH-15 and defending OH-01 and OH-09, helping increase Dem’s margin in the now-flipped House. In OH-10, Democrat Kristina Knickerbocker is leading GOP incumbent Mike Turner in a race that has yet to be called. And let’s not forget the governor’s race. GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s nasty campaign tactics weren’t enough to defeat Dem. Amy Acton, who won Ohio’s race for governor by nearly 8 points.
MVP partners Stand Up for Ohio/Ohio Organizing Campaign, Ohio Citizen Action, Innovation Ohio, and Ohio Students Action helped secure these huge wins!

Photo: Carolina Federation knocking doors in support of Democrats Roy Cooper for Senate and Anita Earls for state Supreme Court.
North Carolina: Flipping the Senate! Biting our nails for the state Supreme Court
MVP partners helped secure a landslide victory for Roy Cooper, flipping this open Senate seat by more than 19 points. MVP invested early in North Carolina, and as momentum for Roy Cooper grew, the GOP all but abandoned the state as they were forced to play harder in places like Kansas and Iowa.
More NC wins!
- NC Supreme Court: Anita Earls won her reelection, a necessary step to be able to flip the state Supreme Court in 2028 and unrig North Carolina’s gerrymandered maps.
- NC-01: In what’s likely to be one of several “dummymanders,” Democrat Don Davis is leading by 3+ points, with 99% of the vote in. If he wins, this will be a huge victory in a district drastically redrawn to favor Republicans during Trump’s mid-decade redistricting fight.
- NC-11: Democrat Jamie Ager won in a landslide over GOP candidate Jennifer Balkcom in this western North Carolina district that Republicans won by nearly 14 points in 2024.
- NC-13: In an unlikely-but-true turn of events, Democrat Paul Barringer is up 2.4 points against first-term GOP incumbent Brad Knott in this wildly gerrymandered district that Knott won by 17 points in 2024. And I do mean wild. In 2023, Republicans redrew NC-13 to carve out large chunks of Durham and Raleigh.
- State legislature: Our goal was to block a GOP supermajority in the state House and break a GOP supermajority in the state Senate but guess what: we won a majority in the state House and are two seats away from a majority in the state Senate! And we did it with aggressively gerrymandered maps. This is a huge win for being able to set and pass a bold legislative agenda in 2027 and setting the stage for big wins in 2028 and 2030.
So grateful for the hard work of MVP partners Down Home NC, Carolina Federation, Siembra NC, Advance Carolina, and North Carolina A. Philip Randolph Educational Fund. Read the full details here.

Photo: Georgia Youth Justice Coalition Canvassers helping young voters build their ballot and prepare to vote.
Georgia: Jon Ossoff back to the Senate! Flipping the governor’s seat and (probably) the state House!
Winning in the Peach State! Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff is cruising back to Washington and, for the first time in more than 25 years, Georgians elected a Democratic governor, with Keisha Lance Bottoms defeating GOP gazillionaire Rick Jackson by a whopping 8+ points to become the country’s first Black woman governor!
Ossoff and Lance Bottoms weren’t the only ones to win statewide last night. Democrats also won Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, and two Public Service Commission races! Massive wins in a state that’s been controlled by the GOP for too long.
Guess what else: We are inches away from flipping the state House!! MVP partners helped flip eight seats moving us closer to the 91 seats needed to win the majority. With 11 races yet to be called and Dems sitting at 87 seats, it’s looking very good. Flipping the state House along with winning the governor’s race will help block 2027 legislative and congressional redistricting and other harmful policies.
The Peach State was LIT this election season, breaking early vote records and turning it UP on Election Day. Roughly 636,000 Georgians who voted early did not vote in 2022. During early voting, turnout among Black Georgians and young people increased significantly over 2022 numbers.
Shout out to MVP partners including Georgia Youth Justice Coalition Action, Asian American Advocacy Fund PAC, Georgia Equality PAC, and Georgia Conservation Voters Action Fund who were all over the state, mobilizing young people, voters of color, and other communities that tipped the scales in these races. Read more here.

Photo: Texas Organizing Project PAC (TOP PAC) with Texas Senator-elect James Talarico getting out the vote in Houston.
Texas: Defeating MAGA! Flipping House seats!
In a duo of incredible victories, Texas voters flipped both the U.S. Senate seat, electing James Talarico, and the governor’s seat, helping Gina Hinojosa to victory. That means MAGA-addicts Ken Paxton and Greg Abbott — well-known for their egregious attacks on women, trans people, and immigrants — are OUT! Wishing them all the best in their next chapter of private life!
Both races were won by MASSIVE margins — 12+ points for Talarico and 7+ points for Hinojosa.
Trump’s power-grabbing, mid-cycle redistricting push started in Texas, with a redrawn congressional map that was supposed to gain Republicans five seats. “Not so fast” said Democrats in TX-34 and TX-35. Democrats were able to defend TX-34 and elect Vicente Gonzalez by nearly 16 points and defend TX-35, electing Johnny Garcia by nearly 11 points despite Republicans' gerrymandering power grabs.
We also flipped two House districts: TX-15, where Democrat Bobby Pulido bested the GOP incumbent by more than 24 points in a district that went for Trump by 18 points in 2024; and TX-23, where Democrat Katy Padilla Stout won by 8 points. And we’re waiting on TX-09 where Democrat Leticia Gutierrez is up by 15 points with 84% of votes counted.
In this historically red state, many Black and Latine voters who swung to Trump in 2024 swung back to Democrats this year, thanks to work of MVP partners Texas for All, Texas Organizing Project PAC, LUPE Votes, and Texas Freedom Network PAC, and others who helped make the margin of victory.
South Carolina: Flipping the Senate!
One of the biggest shocks of the midterms: Democrat Annie Andrews defeated Republican Darline Graham, to flip South Carolina’s Senate seat. A Democrat has not won a Senate seat in this Deep South state since 1998! Not only did Andrews win, she won by 4.4 points in a red state that Trump won by 18 points in 2024.
MVP partners helped Andrews secure her victory. Cypress Action Fund created voter guides and candidate report cards, supported canvassing efforts in Democratic counties to make sure turnout was high, and hosted early vote parties at HBCUs across the state. Be The Ones Action Fund coordinated carpools, covered gas stipends, and partnered with local funeral homes to make sure that college students who has requested absentee ballots too late could make it out to vote in person.

Iowa: Senate! House! Governor! Flips!
Democrat Josh Turek flipped Iowa’s open Senate seat, winning his race against tepid-Trumper GOP candidate Ashley Hinson by 4 points.
MVP and our partners knew we needed to flip this seat to regain control of the Senate, but Josh Turek is far from a perfect candidate. His position on trans rights — mostly notably in an ad he released in the final days of campaigning — is absolutely not what we need or want in the Democratic Party. Using a GOP wedge issue and giving it credence by attacking an already threatened and deeply vulnerable population to score political points is not a moral or lasting strategy.
MVP’s plan to reform the Democratic Party includes pushing candidates and elected officials to focus on what really matters to working-class people — being able to afford their daily lives — rather than adopting right-wing talking points and throwing already marginalized communities under the bus.
In other news, MVP partners helped flip all three of MVP’s target House races in Iowa — IA-01, IA-02, and IA-03 — and the governor’s seat, which Democrat Rob Sand won by a huge margin.
Credit to MVP partners Iowa CCI Action Fund, Alliance for a Better Iowa, Iowa Farmer’s Union, and New Day Iowa Action for helping flip this red state!

Photo: Nebraska Appleseed Action Fund organizers advocating for the right to vote.
Kansas and Nebraska: Flipping out in the plains!
Let’s keep the “winning in red states” theme going!! Democrat Adam Hamilton squeaked out a win over Trump-loving, right-winger GOP incumbent Roger Marshall to flip Kansas' Senate seat. Democrat Cindy Holscher is narrowly leading the Kansas governor’s race, on track to keep this seat in the D column and remind everyone that Kansas isn’t actually deep red.
MVP partners Kansas Coalition for Common Sense and Loud Light Civic Action have been providing critical election resources to voters and harnessing the power of young people to build political power in the state.
In Nebraska, even though independent candidate Dan Osborn lost to GOP incumbent Pete Ricketts, there’s still reason to celebrate! We flipped NE-02, with Democratic Denise Powell winning by a massive 15-point margin.
Shout out to MVP partners Democracy Nebraska, Second House Collaborative, and Nebraska Appleseed Action Fund, who, like our friends in Kansas, are proving there’s nothing plain about the plains!

Photo: Make the Road Action Pennsylvania with PA-07’s Congressman-elect Bob Brooks at a “Cafe Con Bob” community event.
Pennsylvania: A clean House sweep and a Dem state trifecta!
We won big in the Keystone State!! MVP partners helped secure victory in a quad of House races, flipping PA-01, PA-07, PA-08 and PA-10.
We also won 31 (and counting!) state legislative races, securing a Democratic trifecta in Pennsylvania for the first time in more than 30 years! Democrats flipped the state Senate, 26-24, and held the state House. A state Democratic trifecta will open the door for 2027 legislation that could raise the state minimum wage, provide more funding for public transit, and block further MAGA attacks on vulnerable communities.
Major kudos to our partners Make the Road Action Pennsylvania, Action Together NEPA, One Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Working Families Party, API PA Votes, and others.

Wisconsin: House flips and a Democratic state trifecta!
There was a lot on the ballot in this perpetual Presidential battleground state, and MVP partners helped secure wins up and down the ballot.
MVP partners helped flip two U.S. House seats — WI-01 and WI-03. In WI-01, Democrat Mitchell Berman defeated GOP incumbent Bryan Steil by 4 points. This is a massive flip in a district Trump won by 4.5 points and Steil won by 10 points in 2024.
In WI-03, Democrat Rebecca Cooke won by 6+ points, ousting GOP incumbent Derrick Van Orden who won his race in 2024 by just 2.7 points.
We also secured a Democratic state trifecta, electing Democrat David Crowley to the governor’s seat and flipping one state Senate seat and six state Assembly seats to win majorities in both chambers.
MVP partners helped secure these victories, with the organizing ecosystem in Wisconsin growing strong year after year. Shout out to Citizen Action Wisconsin, GROWW (GrassRoots Organizing Western Wisconsin), Voces de la Frontera Action, Hmong Organizing & Mobilizing for Empowerment (HOME), Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance, and All In Wisconsin Action Fund.
Florida: Winning key House races!
Even though Angie Nixon lost the Senate race and David Jolly came up short in the governor’s race, we still pulled out major wins in a lot of key House races.
We defended three gerrymandered seats — FL-14, FL-22, and FL-25 — handing the GOP a few more dummymanders. Democrat Darren Soto is leading in FL-09, and FL-13 and FL-27 have yet to be called.
MVP partners also helped break the GOP supermajority in the state House, flipping 10 seats. And we flipped one seat in the state Senate with four races yet to be called.
MVP partners have never given up on winning in Florida. Angie Nixon lost by less than 3 points and David Jolly by less than 2. Props to our partners, including Florida for All, FLIC Votes, Florida Rising, Engage Florida, Florida Student Power Network, and more.

Photo: New Virginia Majority canvassers knocking doors and talking to voters the weekend before Election Day.
Virginia: Riding the waves in VA-02 + ballot measures!
Keep the wins coming in the Commonwealth! We flipped VA-02, Democrat Shannon Taylor is leading in VA-01, and VA-05 has yet to be called.
And we won a trio of ballot measures! Now, reproductive freedom will be enshrined in the state constitution, marriage equality is guaranteed, and people with felony convictions will have their voting rights restored.
In Virginia, partners New Virginia Majority, CASA In Action, Virginians for Reproductive Freedom, and Equality Virginia Advocates helped secure these major victories
Other major victories
- KY-06: Democrat Zach Dembo flipped this central Kentucky district, defeating Republican Ralph Alvarado by more than 9 points. Big ups to our partners Kentuckians Not Corruption, Common Ground Kentucky Action, and Kentucky Future Project Action Fund.
- Minnesota: Peggy Flanagan won the Senate race in Minnesota and we secured a Democratic trifecta, with Amy Klobuchar securing the governor’s seat, and Dems flipping the state House. In MN-01, Jake Johnson leads GOP incumbent Rep. Brad Finstad by just 321 votes.
- Nevada: We defended NV-03, reelecting Susie Lee by a huge margin, and secured a state Democratic trifecta. Democrat Aaron Ford flipped the governor’s seat, winning by 7.5 points to become the state’s first Black governor. We also defended majorities in the state Senate and state House, ensuring Democratic state control in 2027.
What we’re waiting on:
- Alaska Senate: Democrat Mary Peltola leads GOP incumbent Dan Sullivan by 626 votes, with about 74% of the vote counted. Alaska has ranked choice voting, meaning it may take several days for results if no one wins a majority. We are also keeping a close eye on the DOJ’s lawsuit seeking to block Alaska’s election certification if the GOP candidate, Dan Sullivan, loses. A federal judge dismissed the case, but, as of last night, the DOJ is ramping up its so-called investigation.
- Mississippi Senate: Democrat Scott Colom leads GOP incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith by just 43 votes, with about 96% of the vote counted.
- Arizona: Democrats lead in three target House races: AZ-01, an open seat; AZ-02, where Jonathan Nez leads GOP incumbent Eli Crane by under 2,000 votes; and AZ-06, where JoAnna Mendoza leads GOP incumbent Juan Ciscomani by 8 points. Control of both state legislative chambers is still undecided.
- Nevada: Teresa Benitez-Thompson leads in the open NV-02 seat by more than 6 points, with about 86% of the vote counted.
- California: Ballots will take days to count, and Democrats lead in target races CA-13, CA-22 (against GOP incumbent David Valadao), and CA-48.
- Colorado: Democrat Eileen Laubacher leads GOP incumbent Lauren Boebert by about 1.5 points in CO-04, and Jessica Killin leads GOP incumbent Jeff Crank in CO-05. In CO-03, Dwayne Romero trails GOP incumbent Jeff Hurd by just 0.4 points.
