The day after the 2024 Presidential Elections, MVP gathered our community on Zoom to assess the new political reality and where we go from here.

In this post-election briefing, MVP staff on the ground in key battlegrounds discussed:

  • What are we hearing from our partners on the ground?
  • What are the victories we have to celebrate so far?
  • What did we lose – and what does it mean?
  • Where do we go from here?

Our hearts are heavy but our determination has never been stronger.

For MVP supporters, there is one bright spot of this moment: The money we invested is going to help build the grassroots political infrastructure we need in order to win durable majorities in this country over the long term.

MVP Executive Director Billy Wimsatt put it well on our briefing:

“The Harris campaign, for all its strengths, is going away. It’s not going to be here anymore. You know who is going to be here? The groups that we fund.”

In coordination with our partners on the ground and our national allies across the progressive movement, MVP is going to be taking the coming weeks and months to look deeply at the question: How did this happen and what do we do about it?

What we do know is that MVP now has two imperatives for the next two years:

  1. Stop the Trump agenda.
  2. Regain power in the 2026 midterms.

You can count on us to share our analysis, reflections, and strategy in the time ahead.

What you can do now:

  1. Support our amazing local partners to build the biggest movement ever to block the Trump agenda, defend and build the power of at-risk communities, and come back stronger than ever in 2026 and 2028.
  2. Join our volunteer donor organizing Community Call, Thursday 11/7 at 7pm ET // 4pm PT.
  3. Join this Mass Call for the Movement, hosted by Working Families Party, MoveOn, and others, Thursday 11/7 at 8pm ET // 5pm PT.

Whatever happens next: Thank you. We’re just getting started.

In it for the long haul,
The Movement Voter PAC team
