We believe survivors.

All forms of sexual violence are unacceptable.

We’re glad Graham Platner has exited the Maine Senate race — so we can focus on getting the best possible candidate to beat Susan Collins and flip the Senate in November.

This only underscores a key lesson for all Democratic and progressive donors: We must invest in year-round organizing groups, not just one-and-done candidate campaigns built around a single individual, however compelling or charismatic

It’s great when candidates inspire. But campaigns should be about championing a vision and a message, not about the person running. This is exactly what organizers do year-round, while they build the political power of entire constituencies.

Polling suggests we may actually have a better shot at the U.S. Senate seat in Maine now than we did before.

The best thing to do now is to invest as much as we can, as soon as we can, in the local organizing groups whose get-out-the-vote efforts could be key to flipping the Senate seat in Maine — along with every other swing race across the country.
