Frontline Digest: ICE Out, Policy Progress, Primary Elections, and No Kings 3

Every day, local organizing and movement-building groups across the country are working to beat back autocracy, push for bold policies, and deliver progress. These are their stories — curated from their own social media and other public communications.

ICE Out and Putting the Heat on Congress

Minnesota: A huge congratulations to groups on the ground in Minnesota, whose resistance and mass mobilization efforts resulted in Trump’s “border czar,” Tom Homan, announcing the end of the ICE surge. Faith in Minnesota, Unidos MN, TakeAction MN, and others released a joint statement attributing the ICE drawdown to “regular people, clergy and teachers, janitors and soccer moms, people across all of our complicated differences, simply refusing to let our neighbors be attacked and abducted without a fight.” They also state that the end of the surge is not enough, and demand further action to protect Minnesota communities and hold ICE and the Trump administration accountable.

New York: For the Many NY successfully pressured Democratic Rep. Paul Ryan to stop taking contributions from ICE contractors and to donate all of his previous ICE-related contributions to immigrant rights organizations. See news coverage here, here, and here.

New Jersey: Democratic Governor Mikie Sherrill debuted a new “Know Your Rights Information Hub” website, which allows residents to report ICE activity and find pro-bono legal services. The newly elected Governor — who won her race in 2025 thanks, in part, to Make the Road Action NJ and Community Change Action — also signed an executive order barring ICE agents from accessing non‑public areas of state property without a judicial warrant.

Virginia: New Virginia Majority applauds Governor Abigail Spanberger for ending Virginia’s 287(g) agreements, which allowed state law enforcement to collaborate with ICE and other immigration enforcement agencies. New Virginia Majority helped elect Governor Spanberger and win a Democratic trifecta in Virginia in 2025.

Multi-State: Organizations across the country mobilized their community members to contact their Senators, successfully urging them to oppose additional funding for ICE and DHS. Here are a few of their calls to action: TakeAction MN, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta, Unidos MN, Make the Road PA, and POWER Interfaith.

Emboldening Democrats

Pennsylvania: In 2028, there will be a special place in the Democratic primaries for Pennsylvania U.S. Senator John Fetterman, the only Democrat who just voted in favor of DHS and ICE funding. That’s why our national partner, Working Families Party, just launched a multi-year campaign to recruit a primary challenger who can defeat him in 2028 and bring real working-class leadership to the Senate on behalf of Pennsylvanians.

North Carolina: Carolina Federation launched The People’s Bench, “a statewide initiative to train and support a cohort of leaders to run for public office in deep partnership with working people’s organizations.” Carolina Federation is providing candidate recruitment, training, and other necessary support to help working-class people run for office. Carolina Federation also announced its primary endorsements — three candidates challenging incumbent Democratic state legislators who have a record of voting with Republicans.

Mass Civil Resistance

Nationwide: In 2025, the No Kings Coalition mobilized millions to oppose the growing authoritarian actions of the Trump administration and affirm that this nation belongs to its people, not to kings. Now, they are activating an immediate, ongoing nationwide digital organizing effort leading up to their next mass mobilization on March 28. MVP is proud to be an official partner for No Kings 3. Pushing for Policy Progress

Georgia: The Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR) mobilized Georgians to contact their state legislators, urging them to oppose HB 295 — a bill that would further criminalize homelessness rather than offer more sustainable solutions.

Florida: Florida Rising’s “Tea in Tally” (aka Tallahassee) series provides easy-to-understand updates on what’s moving through the Florida state legislature. In their latest edition: voter suppression.

New Hampshire: Granite State Organizing Project engaged voters in support of HB 1601 — a voting rights bill that would provide more education and transparency around changes to voting rules.

Arizona: Arizona Center for Empowerment (ACE) is educating and supporting community members to engage in the civic process. ACE published a guide to help everyday Arizonans provide public testimony and get involved in advocacy at the state legislature.

Kansas: Kansas Coalition for Common Sense has its finger on all things moving in the Kansas state legislature. They recently urged Kansans to oppose HB 2635 — a bill that would fund so-called “crisis pregnancy centers” — anti-abortion facilities that severely limit pregnant people’s healthcare options.

Virginia: Democratic Governor Abigail Spanberger recently signed a series of bills to put four constitutional amendments focused on reproductive health care, voting rights, marriage equality, and redistricting before voters this year. New Virginia Majority, Equality Virginia, Hamkae Center, and other state-based groups contributed to this victory and are now mobilizing voters to support each referendum at the polls. Bonus: Benito Bowl content (for the football and/or Bad Bunny fans out there).

Wisconsin: Grassroots Organizing Western Wisconsin (GROWW) won a housing victory in Menomonie: The City Council passed GROWW’s SHIELD ordinance, which restores proactive rental inspection in parts of Menomonie.

Multi-State: Organizations across the country mobilized their constituents to oppose the SAVE America Act — the mega MAGA voter suppression bill that would enact stricter voter ID requirements, increase voter purges, and require states to hand over their voter registration data to DHS, amongst other harmful provisions. Organizations taking action against this terrible legislation include: Forward Montana, Wisconsin Conservation Voters, Advance Carolina, and Mi Familia Vota.

Prepping for the Primaries & Getting Ready to Run

North Carolina: Early voting is underway ahead of the March 3 primary elections, and organizations on the ground, including Muslim Women For, Mi Familia Vota NC, Common Cause NC, and Carolina Federation, are making sure voters know they can head to the polls now.

North Carolina A. Phillip Randolph Educational Fund is providing resources for North Carolinians to check their voter registration status and find their early voting locations, while Equality North Carolina is urging voters to make their voting plan.

New Hampshire: 603 Forward has trained 50 candidates — including 37 young candidates — to run for office in local races. From school boards to selectboards, 603 Forward is ensuring these candidates are ready to run and win in town elections on March 10.

Correction (February 13, 2026): An earlier version of this piece misstated that Pennsylvania U.S. Senator John Fetterman is up for re-election in 2026. We have corrected the year to 2028.
