Earlier this year, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) released its own unfinished, 192-page post-election autopsy on the 2024 election loss — but for many party insiders and organizers, it left them more disillusioned than reassured about the party’s ability to course-correct and defeat Trump.
We didn’t set out to do an “autopsy” of our own. But we did quietly spend nearly a year a year listening to people across the Democratic ecosystem, and what we learned was remarkably consistent: the corrupting influence of money and selfish interests has hollowed out the party and drained the goodwill of its voters and donors.
“Beyond the Autopsy” turns our findings into an eight-part agenda for reforming the Democratic Party, corroborated by polling data from Data For Progress — and we are backing this agenda with an initial $1 million, inside our commitment of $50 million in political funds over three years to community organizations building a winning Democratic majority.
“We have to run on a double reform agenda for 2029: One, get money out of politics; and two, reform the Democratic Party. I feel like 2028 is the battle royale, followed by 2029, when we need to pass really bold legislation to deal with these problems.”
