How Do We Stop Trump? Flip the House in 2026. Here’s the Plan.

MVP just put out its strategy to win the House in 2026 and build a bold Democratic majority for cycles to come — by funding long-term organizing in key districts starting now. Read on for the plan.

Political assassinations. War in the Middle East. Looming legislation to steal from the poor to give to the rich. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but it’s also more important than ever to put our time, money, and energy where it can make a real impact.

One of the most effective things we can do to stop the Trump regime is to flip the U.S. House in November 2026 — and to do that, one of our smartest moves right now is to fund year-round local organizing in the key districts we need to win.

Why focus on winning the House?

A Democratic House in 2027 will:

  • Block MAGA legislation,
  • Launch investigations and issue subpoenas to expose Trump’s corruption,
  • Sue the administration for violating the U.S. Constitution, and,
  • Be a stepping stone toward the political imperative of winning a Democratic governing trifecta in 2028, and the longer-term imperative of bringing the MAGA era to an end.

Why not just fund candidate campaigns?

Unlike candidate campaigns and ads that vanish after Election Day, MVP invests in locally-rooted organizing groups that develop leaders, fight for their communities year-round, hold elected officials’ feet to the fire, and build power that grows each year.

And, there is a data-driven case that MVP partners’ warm, relational, sustained voter engagement tactics have a greater effect on turnout than ads and superficial voter contact that alienates voters.

In 2024, MVP partners helped win at least eight races and defend ten, netting a Democratic seat and denying the GOP all but the thinnest majority.

Why fund this organizing now vs. in 12 months?

Local advocacy builds toward electoral victory. MVP’s grantee partners aren’t just turning out voters in November 2026 – they have already been hard at work for months, pressuring electorally vulnerable Congresspeople to block the worst parts of Trump’s deeply unpopular “Big, Beautiful Bill.” And, whatever the final legislation looks like, our partners are the ones who will be ceaselessly hammering GOP reps for their votes, all the way through the midterm elections on November 3, 2026.

Sustained investment brings sustained majorities. Year-round, multi-year funding allows local organizations to staff up, scale up, and build electoral power that grows with each cycle.
