• Who: Dozens of MVP partners across the country.
• What: Protecting immigrant, LGBTQ+, low-income, and other at-risk communities through mutual aid, know-your-rights trainings, local government advocacy, media and storytelling, legal action, and more.
• Where: Red, purple, and blue states across the country.
• Why: We can’t just say “We survived the last Trump term, we’ll survive now.” Many did not survive. Many more had their lives destroyed and dignity stripped. Now, many more will suffer and die when they lose access to civil protections, employment, food, shelter, and medical care. We cannot and we will not allow this to happen again. Not on our watch.

Examples

• Defending Birthright Citizenship: In January 2025, MVP partner CASA and others filed CASA v. Trump to stop Trump’s order to end birthright citizenship. On February 5, a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction, blocking the order.
• Pushing Municipalities to Pass the Trust Act: In Pennsylvania, a coalition of MVP partners are pushing municipalities to pass the Trust Act, which ends proactive collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

• Who: A new alliance of dozens of national and local year-round organizing groups.
• What: Campaigns to 1) push GOP House members to block MAGA bills, and 2) hold each rep accountable for their votes — by flipping their seats in 2026.
• Where: 20+ competitive House districts, including (in order of 2024 loss margin): IA-01, CO-08, PA-07, PA-10, PA-08, NE-02, AK-01, AZ-06, WI-03, CA-41, MI-07, IA-03, VA-02, AZ-01, NJ-07, WA-04, MI-10, NY-17, CA-22, WI-01, NY-01, and NY-11.
• Why: We lost the House in 2024 by just 7,310 votes across three seats. By building and strengthening alliances of community, labor, and activist groups in the most narrowly held GOP districts, we can stop the worst bills in 2025 — while building momentum for 2026.

• MI: A dozen Michigan partners are organizing call-ins, protests, and lobby days pressuring their entire congressional delegation to stop Trump and Elon Musk from slashing critical programs.
• WI: Wisconsin Farmers Union is surveying its members on harmful impacts of Trump policies – including severe federal funding losses – and pushing House reps to address these impacts.

• Who: Dozens of MVP partners building large bases of youth, communities of color, labor, faith, and multiracial working-class communities.
• What: Strengthening state alliances built around shared analysis, vision, narrative, and infrastructure; supporting multi-group campaigns that yield policy wins and increased political influence; and giving capacity-building support to organizations and whole “state ecosystems”.
• Where: The perennial battleground states (AZ, GA, MI, NC, NV, PA, WI) and other key states.
• Why: We know this works because we have seen it in action. We are working closely with the architects of “the Minnesota model,” which led to some of the most sweeping policy wins of the last decade. This progress didn’t come out of nowhere – it was the result of over a decade of strategic base-building and organizing, much of which was led by MVP partners. 

Examples

• AZ: Activate 48, a coalition of MVP partners, is launching a thank-you canvass to knock 80k doors + recruit 12k members. MVP’s Arizona State Advisor is investing in strengthening their long-term work.
• GA: In January 2025, Progress GA met with several other MVP partners to plan a shared 2025 state legislative strategy. Now, MVP’s GA State Advisor is working with 10 local partners to align around a shared long-term vision and strategy.
• MI: MVP partners are exploring coordinated ballot measure campaigns in 2026 to: 1) Build their bases and train their organizers; 2) Rally around a unified narrative + compelling vision; and 3) Enact policy change that tangibly improves lives. Measures being considered include campaign finance reform, taxing the rich to fund schools, and paid family leave.
• Statewide Operations Hubs: In 2022, MVP Michigan partners created Back Office of Michigan (BOOM), an operations hub that streamlines HR, finance, and administrative functions for allied organizations across the state. Now, MVP staff are working to create hubs focused on operations, research, & comms in states like AZ, GA, PA, WI.

• Who: To identify our highest-impact partnerships, we are currently mapping the progressive media landscape while also studying our opposition's successes. This will involve new levels of innovation and collaboration with a wide array of allies as well as media and tech players. 
• What: Seeding and scaling the best strategies to grow the progressive media ecosystem, as well as infusing smart media and culture-shifting strategies into partners’ core organizing work.
• Where: We are examining national, state, and local strategies, with an emphasis on the perennial battleground states (AZ, GA, MI, NC, NV, PA, WI).
• Why: Media has radically changed and we have to “adapt or die.” This is a long-term strategy, but we have to start mapping the landscape and making initial R&D investments ASAP – so we can impact 2026 and 2028.

• GA: Progress Georgia & other MVP partners are working to engage Black, LGBTQ+, Muslim, and other marginalized voters via podcasts & digital media.
• ME: Maine People’s Alliance is working to expand the reach of its MaineBeacon.com news site, which is educating Maine voters year-round about news and issues with a progressive lens.
• MI: Distill Social is launching a media company to support left-leaning entertainment, political podcasts, and cross-platform content.

Potential Pilot Projects

• Progressive Viral Social Content created by & for young people (right-wing example: PragerU).
• In-Language Media: Partner with ethnic media platforms to amplify progressive content.
• Influencer School: Train and coach the next generation of promising progressive influencers.

Key 2025 victories:

• January: Democrats held the Virginia legislative majority and flipped an Iowa state Senate seat.
• March: MVP partners helped hold the state House majority and flip a deep-red state Senate seat in Pennsylvania.
• March: MVP partners helped Dems win and overperform in New Hampshire town elections and beat four GOP ballot measures in Louisiana.
• April: MVP partners helped protect the 4-3 liberal majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, marking a turning point in the narrative against the Trump / Musk agenda.

Upcoming priorities:

• Pennsylvania (5/20): Win primaries to retain a progressive county trifecta in Pittsburgh and defend a progressive District Attorney in Philadelphia.
• Pennsylvania (11/4): Retain liberals' 5-2 majority on the PA Supreme Court, with implications for redistricting, voting rights, and more.
• Virginia (11/4): Win a Democratic trifecta by flipping the Governorship and holding the legislature.
• Arizona (11/4): Win elections in Tucson Municipal Wards 5 & 3 to retain a progressive City Council.
• Georgia (11/4): Elect progressives to the Public Service Commission, Atlanta Mayor & City Council, and school board races in Atlanta and elsewhere.
• Maine (11/4): Win two ballot measures to 1) pass a gun-safety "red flag law" and 2) defeat GOP voter suppression attempts.

Unlike candidate campaigns and ads that vanish after Election Day, MVP invests in locally-rooted organizing groups that develop leaders, fight for their communities year-round, hold elected officials’ feet to the fire, and build power that grows each year. This is how we beat MAGA and win long-term.
