Help Ohio organizers protect democracy from federal attacks.

This fund is operated by Movement Voter Project (MVP), in close consultation with our partners on the ground in Ohio, who have launched Hands Off Ohio, led by the Ohio Democracy Defense Coalition.

Our grantmaking is led by a team of national and state advisors, each with years of experience in local, state, and national organizing, movement building, and civic engagement strategy.

On June 11, 2026, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security raided the offices of state-based pro-democracy organizations in Ohio and showed up at the homes of organizational leaders.

These raids are part of a widening pattern of targeting civil society organizations, in particular those working to defend free and fair elections.

In close consultation with our Ohio partners on the ground, we created this fund to defend against these attacks and to promote democracy and democratic participation across the state.

Donations to the Ohio Democracy Defense Fund go directly to groups in Ohio working to protect our democracy and defend our freedom to vote — groups like Innovation Ohio, which fights for working families in Ohio through advocacy, activism, and policymaking, and Ohio Organizing Campaign, which registers and mobilizes Ohio voters.

Money raised through this fund will support organizing, communications, and advocacy to defend and promote democracy and democratic participation in Ohio.

Your dollars will:

• Power a joyful, determined public campaign to protect the freedom to vote and keep Ohioans registering and turning out.
• Resource crisis communications and Know Your Rights trainings to keep organizers and communities safe.
• Keep our partners' organizing programs running — from a voter-registration National Day of Action on June 18, all the way through the last vote is cast and fairly counted.

MVP is working in close consultation with Prentiss Haney (Hands Off Ohio) and Misha Barnes (Ohio Progressive Collaborative) as grantmaking advisors, with MVP staff making all final grantmaking decisions.

501(c)(4) donations to Movement Voter Project are not tax-deductible.

501(c)(3) donations to Movement Voter Fund are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed under the law. Please consult your tax advisor for guidance.

501(c)(4) donations to Movement Voter Project will move most quickly to groups on the ground and provide more flexibility in their use, but are not tax-deductible.

501(c)(3) donations to Movement Voter Fund are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed under the law, but take a bit longer to disburse (because MVF conducts its grantmaking through a fund at Tides Foundation).
