Can I donate if I am a U.S. resident with a green card?
Yes. Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders) have the same rights as U.S. citizens to donate to PAC, 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(3) organizations.

More Information
- Political Action Committees (PACs): As a green card holder, you may support PACs like Movement Voter PAC because you are specifically excluded from the "foreign national" prohibition under 52 U.S.C. § 30121 and 11 CFR § 110.20(a)(3)(ii) (see "the green card exception" in the official FEC guidance on foreign nationals).
- 501(c)(4) Social Welfare Organizations: You may support 501(c)(4) groups like Movement Voter Project because the FEC's "foreign national" restrictions do not apply to permanent residents (see "the green card exception" in the official FEC guidance on foreign nationals).
- 501(c)(3) Organizations (Charities): You may donate to 501(c)(3) groups like Movement Voter Fund as a "resident alien" for tax purposes, as defined in IRS Publication 519 (U.S. Tax Guide for Aliens).
Note: MVP has supported ballot measure committees, and we vet any outgoing funds to ensure we are following state or local rules that can require that only funds from U.S. citizens support that work.
