Why doesn’t MVP accept checks under $1,000?
We deeply appreciate your commitment to MVP. In the spirit of candor and practicality, here’s why we only accept checks of $1,000 and up:
Your online gift translates to more money to the field.
Bottom line: We want more organizers talking to voters vs. more staff processing checks.
Processing checks is more complex and time-intensive than you might imagine, between depositing, accounting, donor data entry, legal compliance, and more.
When you give online, a lot of that complexity is streamlined. Online processing does come with small fees, but donations by check cost us much more paid admin staff time.
As more donors discover MVP, we’ve had to ask: “How can we keep moving the most money to our local partners, now and into the future?” When you give online, you help us keep a leaner staff operation and, most importantly, move more money to the field.
Giving online through MVP is:
- Private: MVP will never sell, rent, or lease your information, nor does ActBlue, our online payment processor.
- Scaleable: In part thanks to our donor organizing volunteers, we are getting more and more new donors — especially in big election years. Online giving lets us process these funds without adding admin staff to keep up.
- Secure: ActBlue ensures donors: “ActBlue is PCI compliant, which means that we’ve passed rigorous security tests to ensure that all donor credit cards are fully protected.”
