Senior Director of Capacity Building
JPP serves as Senior Director of Capacity Building at MVP, where they play a pivotal role in connecting movement partners with essential capacity-building resources. In this position, JPP works alongside the Capacity Building Team and MVP's Program Team to ensure organizations receive the support they need — whether through coaching, technology tools, leadership development, skills-building and training, or organizational development — from trusted providers or through funding to access these critical resources.
JPP brings over 18 years of experience as an organizer and movement builder, with deep expertise in educating and mobilizing communities around issues of gender, sexuality, class, reproductive justice, prison justice, racial justice, and disability justice. Before joining MVP, JPP served as Director of Economic Justice Initiatives at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center in New York City. They also held leadership roles at the Sylvia Rivera Project, including Director of Outreach & Community Engagement and Co-director of the Movement Building Team from 2014 to 2018, while serving as a collective member through 2019.
A Colombian/Latinx, non-binary, queer organizer at heart, JPP is driven by a vision of building new ways of loving, organizing, and uplifting one another. They are a passionate abolitionist who carries forward the legacy of BIPOC trans leaders and movement elders. Outside of their professional work, JPP enjoys home cooking and is a novice sewer.
