Capacity Building Movement Technology & Data Strategist
As the Capacity Building Movement Technology & Data Strategist, Steven works with movement-building organizations to support the development of their data and technology infrastructure and resources. Steven brings a decade of experience in grassroots organizing, research, progressive data, and training. They have previously held roles at The Movement Cooperative, re:power, and the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center.
As a queer child of Mexican immigrants from Boyle Heights, Steven draws inspiration from the legacy of freedom fighters who came before him. In particular, the data and research legacy of Ida B. Wells and the organizing traditions of Ella Baker. They hold a bachelors in Sociology and a masters in Urban and Regional Planning. Steven is ready to continue strengthening the data and technology capacity of movement building groups nationwide.
In their free time, Steven enjoys swimming, traveling, learning about healing modalities, and spending time with their family of chihuahuas in California.
