JP Peralta
As Capacity Building Co-Director at MVP, JPP supports MVP’s movement partners matched and connected to capacity building supports offered by the Capacity Building Team.
Alongside the CB Team, JPP ensures that groups have the support they need in coaching, tech tools, leadership development, skills-building & training, and organizational development from trusted providers and/or the funding groups need to access these resources.
JP (they/them/theirs) is a non-binary queer fat Colombian/Latinx organizer and movement builder who dreams of finding new ways of loving, organizing, and building each other up in a world that hurts a lot. JPP has been educating and organizing around issues of gender, sexuality, class, reproductive justice, prison justice, racial justice, and disability justice for over 18 years.
JPP served as Director of Outreach & Community Engagement and co-director of the Movement Building Team at the Sylvia Rivera Project from 2014 to 2018 and as a collective member from 2014 to 2019. Most recently JPP was in the role of Director of Economic Justice Initiatives at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center in New York City.
JPP is an avid home cook, novice sewer, and passionate abolitionist following the legacy of BIPOC trans leaders & movement elders.
