Jason Franklin
As Senior Advisor at MVP, Jason supports advising for MVP’s highest-capacity donors with personal coaching and giving strategy development as well as supporting MVP’s broader political and organizational development. During the 2019-2020 cycle, he personally advised over $29M to electoral and movement-building work across the country with MVP and via private clients.
Beyond his work with MVP, he advises a range of progressive individual donors, families, foundations, networks, and philanthropic collaboratives through his work as Founder & Principal of Ktisis Capital. He also serves as a board member of the Michigan Alliance (chair), One for Democracy, and the Smithsonian’s Philanthropy Initiative Working Group. He is a co-founder and member of the Solidaire donor network, an Edmund Hilary Fellow, and a member of a range of donor communities including the Threshold Foundation, Democracy Alliance, Generation Pledge, and One for Democracy.
He previously worked as the inaugural W.K. Kellogg Community Philanthropy Chair at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy and as Executive Director of Bolder Giving, an organization that inspired people to give big and take more risks with their philanthropy and was credited by Melinda Gates as an inspiration for the billionaire Giving Pledge. He has also worked for the 21st Century School Fund, the Rockefeller Foundation’s Next Generation Leadership Network housed at NYU’s Research Center for Leadership in Action, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and White House Office of National AIDS Policy.
