Caro serves as the Texas Advisor where she provides strategic recommendations to build people power across the state, identifying key partners who hold deep relationships with communities and who are leading programs and campaigns to remove barriers to civic engagement and improve civic health. As an organizer, she is passionate about contributing with her expertise so that everyone, particularly young people and BIPOC communities in Texas can thrive for the next 7 generations.
Before joining MVP, led national DACA programs in Texas, New Mexico, Missouri, and Arizona, co-founded the United We Dream Houston-based chapter, and trained young organizers across the South. As part of a working class mestizo community with deep roots in Texas (Coahuiltecan/Karankawa land), she leads with the understanding that collective action is necessary in order to undo the barriers that exclude working class and BIPOC people from decisions that impact their lives. When not working at MVP you can find Caro at the nearest dance class in Houston or (urban) hiking with her favorite pup Maxx.
