Introduction

Battleground Alliance is a bold new coalition of national and local groups, organizing in all the top swing districts to flip the House in 2026 — and build local power to keep those seats for the long term.

Unlike candidate campaigns and TV ads that vanish after Election Day, Battleground Alliance is powered by local leadership, year-round organizing, and grassroots advocacy. This is how we build a power base to win the toughest seats in 2026, protect them long-term, and make lasting progress.

The Case

Problem: We keep losing the House. Winning it back is a coin toss.

  • In 2022, we lost by 6,675 votes across five districts: 0.006% of all House votes cast.
  • In 2024, we lost by 7,309 votes across three districts: 0.005% of all House votes cast.
  • Right now, the odds are against us, from GOP-rigged maps to the severe underfunding of year-round local organizing and the most effective forms of person-to-person voter contact.

Solution: Permanent infrastructure for a durable House majority.

2024 had a big bright spot: Two new coalitions, Battleground CA and Battleground NY, helped win eight House seats by aligning community, labor, and activist groups under a shared plan.

By December 2024, MVP began scheming with partner organizations about taking this strategy national by bringing it to all the most competitive House districts. By early 2025, MVP’s national allies reached critical mass and launched Battleground Alliance, a behind-the-scenes coalition to:

  1. Win the House in 2026 by flipping and defending the most competitive seats.
  2. Grow a sustained House majority through local organizing in those districts.
  3. Optimize resources by coordinating local, state, and national groups’ efforts.
  4. Maximize impact by sharing insights and best practices across each district.
  5. Attract resources and people power to these districts in a coordinated way.
  6. Delay and defeat GOP bills by holding members’ feet to the fire through grassroots pressure.

The Target Districts

Battleground Alliance is targeting 42 House districts held by GOP and Democratic members who are A) electorally vulnerable and B) likely to see a high negative impact on constituents from MAGA bills.

Informed by political analysis, local insight, 2024 margins, and 2025 Democratic overperformance, the strategy is to play offense by starting from an expansive map and to adjust as the elections approach.
